The General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police, represented by the Department of Media and Public Relations – Awareness and Media Campaigns Branch, has issued a warning to parents and society at large about the dangers associated with electronic games. These games, while seemingly harmless, can have a profound negative impact on children's behavior, thinking patterns, and overall safety. Hidden within these games are potential security threats that could harm their future, such as exposure to fraud, blackmail, addiction, and a tendency toward isolation and detachment from reality.
His Excellency Colonel Hamad Abdullah Al Awadhi, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, highlighted the varied and significant dangers posed by electronic games. He emphasized the need to remain vigilant to protect children from these risks and educate them about the importance of avoiding such threats. He explained that some electronic game applications can become platforms where outlaws exploit children by altering their behavior and thinking. These criminals use tactics such as fraud, deception, and blackmail, luring children with false promises of winning games or electronic competitions, or with offers of fictitious financial rewards. These manipulative schemes can lead to the child being exploited in ways that could have devastating consequences for their lives.
Colonel Hamad Al Awadhi stressed the critical role of families in safeguarding their children and ensuring electronic security. He urged parents to focus on proper social upbringing, maintain open dialogue with their children, and educate them in ways appropriate to their age. Strengthening trust between parents and children, as well as engaging in shared activities that foster challenge, creativity, experimentation, and excitement, can significantly enhance children's protection when interacting with electronic programs and applications.
