Ras Al Khaimah Police launches traffic awareness campaign: "Drive Phone Free and Stay Aware"

In a bid to bolster road safety and security measures, the Traffic and Patrols Department of the General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police has initiated a new traffic awareness campaign, titled "Drive Phone Free and Stay Aware". The campaign is aligned with the Ministry of Interior's Traffic Sector initiatives aimed at promoting adherence to traffic laws and reducing distractions while driving, particularly the use of mobile phones and their applications.

Colonel Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al Bahar, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, issued a warning about the hazardous behaviors exhibited by some drivers when they divert their attention away from the road. He emphasized that engaging in activities like browsing the internet, using social media, making calls, taking photos, and other distractions while driving can result in sudden and life-threatening accidents. These distractions pose a severe risk to road safety, and the consequences can be devastating.

Colonel Dr. Al-Bahar stressed the paramount importance of eliminating distractions that divert a driver's attention from the road, including talking on the phone or texting while driving. He highlighted that a driver's level of concentration directly correlates with their ability to evade potential dangers, emphasizing that Article 32 of the Traffic Law imposes fines of 800 dirhams and four traffic points for violations related to distracted driving. He urged everyone to avoid such penalties, prioritize road safety, and contribute to safer roads for all.
