Ras Al Khaimah Police Releases Awareness Clip to Warn Against Begging

As part of the annual "Fight Begging and Help the Needy" campaign, the Ras Al Khaimah Police Media and Public Relations Department, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department, has released an educational video to raise awareness about the dangers of begging. Launched in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, the video features a dramatic reenactment highlighting the risks of assisting beggars and the legal consequences associated with it.

The video emphasizes that begging is a clear violation of Federal Decree Law No. 31 of 2021, which states that individuals caught engaging in solitary begging may face up to three months of imprisonment and a fine of no less than 5,000 dirhams. Those involved in organized begging—especially those who exploit others, including foreign individuals—face a minimum of six months in prison and a fine of no less than 100,000 dirhams.

To maintain public order and prevent exploitation, the Ras Al Khaimah Police urges residents to report beggars by calling the toll-free number 901. Additionally, individuals who wish to contribute to those in need are encouraged to donate through official charitable organizations to ensure proper and fair distribution of aid.
