According to traffic studies and statistics, more than half of the traffic accidents that occurred during the holy month of Ramadan in the previous years occurred before sunset and Iftar time, as a result of excessive speed and noncompliance with traffic and traffic laws, as well as bypassing the red light, in order to hurry drivers back to their homes before Iftar time. With a little care and attention, it is possible to avoid these mishaps.
Brigadier Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al Hamidi, Director General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, confirmed that there are ten major mistakes that road users make while driving during Ramadan that cause fatal traffic accidents. The first is driving at excessive speeds, especially before Iftar, and the second is exhaustion and fatigue as a result of not getting enough sleep, the third is erroneous overtaking due to a lack of time, the fourth is driving recklessly, the fifth is not leaving enough distance while driving, the sixth is not adhering to the obligatory lane, the seventh is using a mobile phone while driving, the eighth is reversing without making sure the road is clear, the ninth not paying attention and entering the road before making sure that it is clear, and finally not estimating the correct distance on the part of road users as a result of lack of concentration during fasting
