Ras Al Khaimah Police launched the activities of Unified GCC Traffic Week 2026 under the slogan “Cross Safely,”organized by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council, in cooperation with the General Police Commands across the UAE and a number of strategic partners, during the period from 3 to 8 May 2026.
Brigadier Jamal Ahmed Al Tair, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, attended the opening ceremony along with the Directors General and their deputies, a large number of traffic and patrol officers, police officers, partners and cooperating entities and institutions, as well as members of the society, at Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah.
Brigadier Jamal Al Tair inaugurated the Unified GCC Traffic Week 2026 celebration by launching a traffic awareness campaign introduced by Ras Al Khaimah Police under the title “Cross Safely.” He stressed the importance of safe road crossing and called on all members of the public to adhere to safe crossing rules, use designated pedestrian crossings, remain fully attentive while crossing roads, and ensure that roads are clear before crossing, particularly near intersections and pedestrian crossings. He affirmed that pedestrian safety and smooth, safe mobility are a shared societal responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation.
H.E. Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Mansoori, Director General of Central Operations, stated that the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, represented by the Traffic and Patrols Department, continues its comprehensive efforts to enhance pedestrian safety across the Emirate’s roads through an advanced traffic system that has placed Ras Al Khaimah among the safest cities globally. According to the 2025 traffic statistics, road traffic fatalities declined by 12.6%, pedestrian run-over accidents decreased by 4.1%, and serious traffic accidents dropped by 2.5%.
Brigadier Al Mansoori added that a command and control room built in accordance with international standards has been launched and directly linked to traffic patrols through the latest smart technologies, alongside the introduction of a mobile operations room to manage road and traffic crises with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
The launch of the Unified GCC Traffic Week 2026 was accompanied by the organization of a traffic exhibition and several other public activities, in addition to various programs and competitions held during both morning and evening periods. Traffic awareness visual materials were also displayed on electronic screens to enhance traffic awareness and make the experience more interactive and impactful.
