In line with the humanitarian initiative "Family the Best" launched by the Punitive and Correctional Institution of Ras Al Khaimah Police last year, and coinciding with International Father’s Day on June 21, the institution organized a heartfelt visit for a Gulf family from outside the country. This emotional meeting brought together a long-serving inmate with his eight-month-old baby, born while the father was serving his sentence.
Colonel Abdullah Al Haimer, Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institution Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, explained that this initiative followed the directives of His Excellency Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, and was supervised by His Excellency Brigadier Jamal Ahmed Al-Tair, Deputy Commander-in-Chief. Coinciding with International Father's Day, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for inmates and strengthen family ties and communication.
Under the " Family the Best" initiative, the institution facilitated the family's visit, consisting of the wife, two teenage daughters, and the infant. The family meeting allowed the inmate, who has been in the correctional facility for over a year, to meet his eight-month-old child for the first time. The reunion, held in a specially designated hall, created a warm and emotional family atmosphere. Such initiatives by the Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Punitive and Correctional Institution aim to reduce the psychological pressure on inmates, positively influencing their behavior within the facility.
Psychologist Wafaa bin Yaqoub emphasized that the Ras Al Khaimah Police Correctional Facility is dedicated to launching initiatives that create a better psychological environment for inmates and enhance their communication with family members. This initiative aligns with the institution’s policy of alleviating the psychological burdens on inmates, especially those serving long sentences.
The inmate’s wife, visiting from one of the Gulf countries, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command and the Punitive and Correctional Institution for organizing this joyous meeting. It was the first time her husband met their infant child, providing a significant opportunity for family bonding and bringing joy to all family members.
Such initiatives highlight the deep human connections and the significant attention given by the UAE leadership, the Ministry of Interior, and Ras Al Khaimah Police. They reflect a commitment to building bridges of family communication and bringing happiness to the hearts of inmates and their families.
