The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, represented by the Media and Public Relations Department and the Community Protection and Prevention Department, has launched a month-long awareness campaign on beach safety requirements in cooperation with the comprehensive police stations across the emirate.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Balhoun, Head of the Community Police Section at the Community Protection and Prevention Department, stated that the campaign reflects the General Command’s commitment to enhancing public safety and protecting beachgoers, particularly during the summer season when beaches attract large numbers of families and young people.
He explained that the campaign, which commenced on the 18th of this month and will continue for one month, includes field visits by specialized teams to several beaches across the emirate, including Shaam, Al Rams, Al Muairidh, and Ras Al Khaimah beaches. The visits are conducted during evening hours and aim to provide beach visitors with a range of safety tips and awareness messages designed to promote safe practices and prevent accidents.
The campaign focuses on encouraging parents to closely supervise their children while at the beach, preventing them from entering deep waters that may pose risks to their safety, and emphasizing the importance of adhering to the instructions and guidance issued by lifeguards stationed at public beaches. It also highlights a variety of preventive measures that contribute to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
Lieutenant Colonel Balhoun stressed the importance of community cooperation with these awareness efforts, noting that adherence to safety instructions plays a vital role in preventing drowning incidents and other beach-related accidents. He emphasized that collective responsibility and public awareness are key factors in protecting lives and ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of the community.
