As part of the “Year of Family Councils” program under the theme “Today’s Family… Tomorrow’s Future,” the General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police, represented by the Community Protection and Prevention Department, organized a Parents’ Council session as part of the “Community Safety in Crises” forum, aimed at supporting and strengthening the cohesion of families of People of Determination during crises. The event was attended by Major Mouza Rashid Al Khabouri, Head of the Community Programs Branch, along with a number of police officers, with participation from Ras Al Khaimah Autism Center, school and university students, and People of Determination, at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University.

The forum discussed a number of important topics focused on safeguarding People of Determination during crises, highlighting the types of support required and best practices for dealing with vulnerable groups in society, including persons with disabilities (People of Determination), to enhance community safety.

The forum also reviewed a number of key roles during times of crises, including the role of community security and the role of the police, highlighting the concept of community security and its preventive function prior to intervention in protecting People of Determination, in cooperation with the family members.

The “Community Safety in Crises” forum highlighted the role of mothers and amplified the voice of families by hosting a dedicated session for mothers to share real-life experiences and discuss key daily challenges faced by mothers of People of Determination, along with presenting inspiring family success stories in dealing with potential risks during crises.
