The Search and Rescue Department and the Air Wing at Ras Al Khaimah Police intensified their efforts during the 54th National Day holiday in mountainous areas, with the aim of enhancing the safety of visitors to these locations and protecting their lives from potential risks arising from failure to adhere to preventive guidelines and advisory instructions.
The General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police stated that the Search and Rescue Department carried out several missions during the holiday, including three operations in different mountainous areas to provide assistance to three individuals who encountered separate incidents while in those locations. Meanwhile, the Air Wing Department also handled several aerial missions during the same period.
Ras Al Khaimah Police stressed the importance of full cooperation from visitors to mountainous areas, which experience increased activity during this time of year from hikers and adventure enthusiasts. The police advised visitors to bring enough food and water, keep their phones charged, inform someone in advance of their planned routes, avoid rough terrain, not venture out after dark, and wear suitable clothing and footwear for mountain conditions.
They added that although police units and search and rescue teams are always ready to respond to emergency reports despite potential risks, public commitment to following safety instructions plays a key role in reducing accidents and ensuring everyone’s safety.
Ras Al Khaimah Police urged citizens, residents, and visitors to fully cooperate with ongoing police efforts, which aim to raise levels of awareness and prevention, which constitute the cornerstone of safeguarding their safety and protecting them from imminent risks that threaten those who fail to comply.
