Citizens are urged to exercise caution when dealing with personal or bank account information via smartphone applications and to be vigilant when receiving calls from unfamiliar individuals who may be fraudulent actors.

These scammers often pose as representatives of legitimate entities, companies, or banks, and employ tactics such as soliciting individuals to update their bank account information. Victims are often coerced into sharing sensitive details like card numbers, verification codes, and one-time passwords (OTP) to complete supposed transactions. Within moments, victims find their bank accounts depleted, falling prey to electronic scams.

Colonel Hamad Abdullah Al-Awadhi, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, emphasized the critical importance of increasing awareness about electronic and technical crimes. Given the pervasive use of technology in daily life, combating fraud, extortion, and other forms of cybercrime is a global challenge. The Ras Al Khaimah Police is committed to promoting security awareness and encouraging individuals to take precautionary measures against such threats. They are actively disseminating security information through various social media platforms, inviting the public to follow their accounts for the latest updates on security trends and preventive measures.

Community members are encouraged not to hesitate to report any cybercrimes, instances of blackmail, or suspicious activities to the police promptly. They can reach out to authorities through "901" or the emergency number "999" to ensure swift responses, the restoration of rights, and the preservation of security and safety in the community.
