Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command, through its Traffic and Patrols Department and in collaboration with the Media and Public Relations Department, has launched a traffic awareness campaign titled "Securing Your Load is a Duty." This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance road safety and minimize traffic risks.
Authorities emphasized that overloading trucks and heavy vehicles poses a significant danger to road users, as it can lead to vehicle rollover, accidents, and potential legal consequences for drivers. According to traffic regulations, overloading a heavy vehicle in a manner that endangers others carries a fine of AED 2,000 and six traffic points. Additionally, failure to secure cargo properly—resulting in objects falling or leaking from the load—is punishable by a fine of AED 3,000 and 12 traffic points. Similarly, trucks transporting uncovered loads are subject to a fine of AED 3,000.
The "Securing Your Load is a Duty" campaign aims to educate drivers on the dangers of excess and unsecured loads, which can lead to accidents, vehicle rollovers, and hazardous material spills. Ras Al Khaimah Police urged all drivers, especially those operating heavy vehicles, to take necessary precautions to protect lives and property while ensuring the safety and security of the emirate’s roads.
