Ras Al Khaimah Police Seize 170 Motorcycles

The General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police seized 170 motorcycles as part of its traffic enforcement and awareness campaign targeting motorcycles. The campaign, launched by the Traffic and Patrols Department on April 10, 2026, aims to educate motorcycle users on safety procedures and apprehend violators who endanger lives and property on the roads.


Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Saman Al Nuaimi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, confirmed that 170 unlicensed motorcycles were seized, while their riders were found driving without holding driving licenses. He explained that a dedicated team was formed to search for, track, and enforce traffic regulations against motorcycles violating traffic laws on various main and secondary roads, as well as in residential areas across the emirate, with the aim of reducing fatal traffic accidents.


Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Saman stated that the motorcycle campaign was launched to apprehend violators responsible for traffic accidents that endanger their lives and the lives of others. He added that the law stipulates penalties for “driving an unlicensed or electric motorcycle or operating it in a manner that poses a danger to road users,” including a traffic violation, impounding the motorcycle for 15 days, and a fine of AED 2,000. He further noted that the riders of the seized motorcycles do not possess driving licenses and lack awareness of traffic regulations, in addition to the fact that the specifications of the seized motorcycles do not comply with approved traffic safety standards and requirements.
